Is it right to drop Suresh Raina and Ishant Sharma from Asia Cup and World t-20 cricket squads

The cricket news has arrived that both Suresh Raina and Ishant Sharma has been dropped from indian cricket team that is selected to play Asia Cup. Raina, however, is included in squad for t-20 world cup, but Ishant is not that lucky.

Ishant Sharma would be looking to get his mojo back
The squads are as follows:

India squad for Asia Cup: MS Dhoni (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ambati Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Varun Aaron, Stuart Binny, Amit Mishra, Ishwar Pandey

India squad for World Twenty20: MS Dhoni (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Stuart Binny, Amit Mishra, Mohit Sharma, Varun Aaron
The position of both Suresh raina (middle order batsmen) and Ishat Sharma (tall fast bowler) in the indian team came into question after recent poor performance as per some of the former Indian players, cricket loving public, and more importantly selectors. Although it will be interesting to see if the players replacing these two could do the job expected.

Suresh Raina lifting Malinga for a Six with ease. Will India miss his six hitting ability to close down cricket matches
Suresh Raina has played 189 ODI matches and managed 4596 runs at a healthy average of 35.35 and strike rate of 91.35, the numbers seem perfect for batsmen at number 6 slot when he is constantly under pressure to score runs at a high strike rate. Not many, in fact, has managed such numbers. The replacement, Cheteshwar Pujara, will be expected to better that on constant basis.  Without Yuvraj Singh in the squad the entire pressure of big hitting is likely to fall on MS Dhoni. Almost every other team has strong hitters like  Corey Anderson (New Zealand), McLaren (South Africa), but India and its X cricketers want solid batsmen. It seems these guys have gone overboard with technique without even considering the demands of ODI cricket, especially at number 6 and downwards.
Ishant Sharma's record is not impressive, but he has played most games in India on flat tracks. In 72 ODI matches Ishant has taken 102 wickets at an average of 31.44 and economy of 5.72. Considering that he never gets the new ball to bowl with and balls in slog overs and power plays, these are not really bad numbers for a first change bowler whose captain likes to use him defensively. It seems that this is another decision taken by selectors to please the former Indian cricketers and general public, especially when replacements are not even half as good as Ishant.
What seems to have gone against both Raina and Ishant is public opinion, which are interesting, to say the least. Let's have a look at some of these:
Greenbouncyspin says : "Finally some sense prevailed in the selection committee by dropping Ishant, Raina and bringing Pujara in. But I don't think MSD will include Pujara in the playing XI - he will warm the bench all the matches unless someone is injured."
Shubham18 says: "Though its a good change but still in my opinion even after Ishant's performance which is not upto mark - its good he's given a break to improve. Though I would like to see him there in Australia for the World Cup - faster and better. India need him on the bouncy pitches of Australia.Very intelligent decision of dropping Raina and Yuvraj considering their inability against short balls. And also good that Pujara is selected."
JustIPL says: "Jadeja has recently shown some promise with the bat otherwise Raina has been a better batsman with a useful part time bowling ability. Anyway, good chance for Jadeja to show his batting credentials which are well known on the domestic circuit. He is striking the ball with bat in hand and can replace Raina permanently."
Although, some questions are still being raised on selection of Ravichandran Ashwin, and rightly so.
Here are some comments, against ashwin selection in the team.

Yellachaitu says: "Ishant droped. What about ashwin.his selection 100% politics.dhoni srinivasan is protect like body gards for ashwin. All ready we have jaddu his performence well in bowling than ashwin if u want anothes spin all rounder test spin allrounders like rasool, jalaj, sanklecha etc. Vinay kumar should be selected for t20 because he is good lower order batsmen and have more expearence in this format.
KhemThakur says: "Why Ashwin is retained both in ODI & T20 teams?? It is a senseless decision by selectors by picking up Mohit Sharma instead of Pankaj Singh. It is a shame that Stuart Binny is selected in both the because of his father being a selector. He is not a bowling all-rounder at all instead he is in the team because of his batting performance. We need a strong bowling all-rounder like Irfan Pathan or Rishi Dhawan. I would be great if Praveen Kumar being selected in place of Bhuvenswar Kumar, who is struggling of late due to lack of pace."
It is clear that there are divided opinions as far as Indian team selection for ODI in Asia Cup and t-20 world cup is concerned. Most people seems to agree that Ishant and Raina should be dropped. Is it a right decision? only time will tell.
