Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI, Bangladesh loss highlights weakness in batting

Only Bangladesh cricket team can manage to loose the cricket matches after dominating it for such a long time. In 1st ODI match played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Mirpur, Bangladesh had Sri Lanka reeling at 67 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, before Thisara Perera, who made 80 off 4 balls, combined with Sachithra Senanayake to put a competitive 180 runs target on the board, even though they got all out in 40 overs without completing the full quota of 50 overs of batting.

But Bangladesh, who was at one moment cruising at 114-2, got bowled out for paltry 167 runs in 39.2 overs, thus loosing the match by 13 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim, captain of Bangladesh, was understandably disappointed after the completion of the match.  Angelo Mathews, the sri lanka captain, was very much relieved. Meanwhile Tillakaratne Dilshan continued with his poor run of form and got out after making a labored 3 off 20 balls faced. The scorecard looked like this:

Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, 1st ODI score card, Mirpur
Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, 1st ODI score card, Mirpur

The loss again highlights the batting confidence of bangladesh in shambles and they must do something to come out of the mess they create evrytime for themselves while chasing the target.

It must be said that they are unlucky and have pushed Sri Lankans to the corner in every match so far on the tour, only to give away the advantage to the visitors.

Bangladesh have to learn how to win and not panic. Three run outs when the required rate was only around 3. We find new ways to lose. First they let SL off the hook by dropping three catches when they were around 90/8. Then they imploded by clueless running between the wicket. All they had to do was complete singles and doubles with occasdional boundary. Kudos to SL for fighting back but, this one I have to blame BD for losing instead of SL for winning. Absolutely heart-breaking to see bangladesh loose this way.

Is Perera the new Faulkner? Maybe!

It was a crazy game.SL could have been bowled out for less than 100.Bangladesh could jave won by one wkt. Lions could have scored 200+ plus.Tigers could have created history.

Is this the wt20 2012 final where the west indies were 38-5 in 10 overs and then won quite convincingly?

Who ever said that cricket is anybody's game is true.

But a great face saving win for Sri Lanka. They were all but blown away by a hurricane at the halfway stage.Well bowled Bangladesh, but they just collapsed like a house of cards and were left behind by a little margin.

Thisara Perera looks so relentless when he bats but when he comes to the presentation ceremony he looks quite the opposite!!! I am very hurt to see that BD lost again but Goodness me! Thisara Perera you are such a gem for Sri Lanka!! Forget the dropped catches, the way you stood up for your country is quite brilliant!!
